Go Go Tale
By Abel Ferrara
Genre: COMEDY
|
Synopsis: RAY is
the charismatic Ray Ruby and his club is RAY RUBY'S PARADISE. Ray
is surrounded by his old time partners, long time cronies and colorful
hangers on, desperately trying to keep the dream alive. A classy
dance hall/cabaret where the most beautiful go go girls in the world,
not only lap dance but are members of Ray's, RAY OF HOPE talent
agency, which offer his girls the chance at stardom.
The club which is being underwritten by Ray's younger brother Jack,
(called Johnny for obvious reasons) is barely staying afloat. The
film opens, and closes, on the final nite of the club’s existence. It
takes place on the night Johnny is pulling the plug on the club, no
longer willing to lend Ray the money to keep it going. Ray and
his main sidekick, Accountant, J are facing the reality of the
imminent takeover of his lease by his Landlady and Bed, Bath and Beyond
; the dancers are threatening their beloved Ray with a “strip-strike“;
and tonight is possibly Rays last talent showcase.
But the dreamer in Ray will not surrender. Not wanting to burst
their dreams of stardom or burden his employees with his financial
troubles, Ray and his Accountant have devised a “foolproof system” to
win the Lottery. Suffice it to say, on this magic night they hit
the Lottery jack pot but, true to character, can't find the
ticket. The results are hopefully both poignant and hilarious.
