Synopsis:
The odds against a child of the inner city surviving to his seventeenth year are literally four to one.
SAMSON is well on his way to becoming a statistic. Raised in a decaying slum with his assorted half brothers and sisters, a drug-addicted mother and no father, he inevitably fins himself turning to a life of crime. When he is busted, Samson gets a taste of the

criminal justice system. Preyed upon by guards and older inmates, Samson is forced to resort to violence to save his own life.
Samson establishes a bond with three other inmates and together they escape. They go on a shop-lifting spree and bring the booty to JORELL, a drug dealer and fence who enlists them into his gang. Through him, Samson meets TERRINE, a beautiful young crack-house “strawberry” who steals his heart. A tender love affair takes root between them, while he learns that there is more violence and despair on the mean streets than he has ever realized. Samson becomes an accessory to armed robbery, is involved in the murder of two innocent people and witnesses the death of his best friend. Finally, with Terrine’s life on the line, he is forced to kill Jorell.
Struck with the realization that they are doomed unless they get out of this life, Samson and Terrine make a run for it. They know that alone they’ll never survive, but together, they have a chance.
Samson “the child” beats the odds and becomes a man.
